"Cape Fear/Fin-Nor"

Superior Technology Takes Shape
Cape Fear Rod Company manufactures fishing rods with the new, patented Hextek™ technology,a manufacturing process in which the rod is constructed of six T-shaped graphite elements that when joined together, create a hexagonal rod with three interior I-beams. Cape Fear Rods are the perfect marriage of strength and fishability.

The interior I beams of our Hextek™ technology, coupled with its 100 percent straight fiber alignment, produce a rod that is superior in strength and durability. Cape Fear Rods are produced by placing fibers in a linear fashion from rod tip to butt. This straight fiber alignment increases modulus, or rod stiffness. Tubular rods, in contrast, are made by wrapping material around a circular base.

Tubular rods have bi-directional fibers that inhibit laminate strength (when compared to a same-weight, same-material Cape Fear rod).

Hextek™ technology's high fiber content and 100 percent linear fiber alignment create a state-of-the-art rod that is lightweight yet exceedingly powerful, durable and nick-resistant.

More Sensitive Than a Tubular Rod

With 100% fiber alignment, our rods transfer vibrations more effectively to the angler. In contrast, the bidirectional fibers of a tubular rod (when compared to a same-weight, same-material Cape Fear rod), dampen vibrations by dispersing them in many directions.

Hextek™ technology enables us to produce blanks with one of the lowest resin contents in the industry. Less resin in the laminate means that less energy is absorbed and more is transferred to the angler.

These new rods will enable you to feel bites like never before and still give you the durability and power to lift heavy fish.

260% More Crush Resistant Than a Tubular Rod
The hexagon and its interior members produce a crush-resistant rod that is warranted not to break under normal conditions.

When tested against same-weight, same-materials tubular rods, Cape Fear Rods rated 260% stronger in a crush test.

Hextek™ technology produces a crush-resistant rod because the rod's interior members prohibit cross-sectional deformation. In contrast, hollow tubes often fail because they warp or buckle.

An Engineered Spine Gives You A Competitive Edge

Another trademark of Cape Fear Rod's Hextek™ technology is an engineered spine. The engineered spine restricts the flexing action to one plane of the rod's hexagon, insuring casting accuracy and preventing rolling when fighting a fish.

Because each of our rods' six T-sections can be customized, Hextek™ technology represents a major breakthrough in manufacturing.

Separate rod sections can be constructed with different materials and to precise specifications, enabling us to create a level of performance unattainable in traditional rod construction.
